The Los Angeles River - Project  –  An Experimental Narrative
HD-Video/35mm, Dolby SR 5.1, Colour, 80 min

The Los Angeles River Project is a narrative film that engages in a discourse about the contemporary politics of ecology and urbanization where WATER is an essential, lacking source fenced off from its inhabitants and their awareness. Brent, a shy and contemplative biologist, researches along the channelized river. The deeper Brent trespasses the river’s site the deeper he enters a parallel world, meandering his attention from purely scientific to anthropological and social observation. Brent finally encounters Marvin, a homeless and religious man, camping on the river's bank having left his family 19 years ago. Their conversation and shared time connects through the river and unite what felt so far apart: cultural and educational backgrounds, status, generation, race and American ways of life today.
